The polemics and the protests aroused by the art world against the direction of the Italian Pavilion of this Biennale, committed this year to Vittorio Sgarbi, are certainly the sign of an unwelcome revolution, therefore these lamentations probably reveal that the granitic "art system" complains some blows; in fact, for the first time, we can witness the opening toward numerous smaller artists; not the usual "cartel" of excellent names.

A phrase to be framed, leaving anything out:

“L'Arte non è cosa nostra.”  (Art is not Sicilian Mafia) - Vittorio Sgarbi

I wish to underline that Jizaino condemns any exploitation of Art for partocracy and factious aims, and that the people should pursue the union, not the fight, but it is sure that this year will be particularly interesting for the situation of renewal, and at least for that environment of comparison, even in the protest.

The title, ILLUMInations, is rather ambiguous: a reason more to go to see this Biennale with a critical spirit. And the Vatican Pavilion, that the Holy See wanted to organize, will not be in this edition, but probably starting from the next: maybe because it is a ILLUMINATED Biennale?

Jizaino this year will visit the Biennale di Venezia, after two edition of absence due to the lowering of interest for this international kermesse which, also according to many visitors, did not succeed in arousing emotions anymore.
These pages will very probably host a review.
